I was also at the Creative Arts Emmys with my nominated husband. I work in costumes and felt immense pressure. I am also in a bigger body than I’m used to and I’m still learning how to dress it; I basically had to give up on wearing vintage after my kid was born. It has been the hardest thing about motherhood—I basically dress vicariously through my kid, who has some great vintage pieces. I really felt this and your last piece. Thanks for sharing.

Oh wow yeah I don’t even work in costumes and I STILL felt pressure, I can’t imagine! I’m sure you looked incredible, but I understand how difficult it can feel to navigate these things as we change.

You both pop and complement the red carpet! Beautiful piece and you’re rocking it. I wish I had more events to dress up for!

You looked sensational. And, to release pressure about dressing as a creative, think of designers like Chanel and Edith Head, who found their look and stuck to it, or to editors like Tonne Goodman and (though she cycled through various periods), Diana Vreeland.

Ah but I think this is exactly what I’m struggling with - I haven’t found this look yet that feels like who I’m becoming, and it’s like I’m just trying on different things like “is *this* who I am? Is this?” and so on.
